When you are looking to visit Puerto Vallarta, one of the most important things you need to do is get a good idea of how to get there. There are many options, including flights, charters, buses, and car rentals, and you’ll find that if you have a bit of research, you’ll be able to get to your destination with ease.

Buses

The Puerto Vallarta public transportation system provides a reliable and safe means of getting around the city. You may choose to ride a bus or take a taxi, depending on your budget and the distance you need to travel. But before you head out, you should learn a bit about the different types of buses that travel through the town.

The most common routes are located along the coastal highway, also known as Francisco Medina Ascensio. They run every five or ten minutes between six and nine. Most buses have air conditioning and WiFi, but equipment on board can vary from provider to provider.

There are two main routes that take passengers to the Marina area. One route passes by Walmart and Estadio Municipal. Another runs past Las Juntas, Paseo de los Cocoteros, and Las Glorias.

Some routes are exclusive to specific destinations, like the R-03 which travels inland areas. Others are free. These include the airport bus and the Tunel.

A local bus, also known as the “Tunel”, bypasses downtown and heads north. It is a convenient resource for locals and tourists alike.

To get to the Marina, you’ll want to catch a bus that says Centro, Marina, or Tunnel. If you are unsure of where to get off, you can ask the driver.

Once you’ve made it to the Marina, you can walk a block to the Malecon promenade, which leads to the Town Hall and Main Plaza. You can then enjoy a mile-long boardwalk, traffic-free, and enjoy a scenic view of the sea.

Several non-stop flights from North America and Europe reach the Puerto Vallarta airport, which sits on the northern edge of the city. The airport is also a Federal Zone, so the taxi rates are higher than those in the rest of the city.

Weather in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta’s weather is warm all year round. However, it is important to understand how Puerto Vallarta’s weather is impacted by seasonal differences. While the rainy season in Puerto Vallarta does not last all year, you can expect to have some rain at least once a month. Rain often falls during the afternoon, but it will not ruin a day on the beach.

The high season is between October and May. This is the best time to visit for good weather. You should also consider whether you want to visit during a hurricane season. In most years, hurricanes do not hit Puerto Vallarta.

The low season is from July to September. It is the ideal time for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Although the sea temperatures are a little lower, the ocean conditions are still suitable for these activities.

There is also a rainless period from February to May. At least half of the days during this season are sunny.

During the rainy season, the skies are cloudy most of the day. Thunderstorms can be thrilling to watch.
