If you fly Delta Airlines frequently, you should know that you can get access to their Sky Club lounge. This is an exclusive lounge for Delta passengers, but if you have an Amex Centurion credit card, you’ll also be able to use it.
Real-time occupancy tracker
Delta has announced a number of changes to its Sky Club access policy, and plans to begin offering real-time occupancy trackers in the Fly Delta app in December. These changes come as Delta seeks to expand its lounge presence in key markets and curb crowding in its clubs.
The new policy aims to ensure a better experience for the most loyal customers. Customers who already have Delta One, Diamond Medallions, or Premium Select will be able to gain expedited entry to Delta’s Sky Clubs, as long as the club is not at capacity.
Delta will also be building five new lounges in the next two years. Those locations will be located in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and New York.
For customers who don’t want to wait in line for access to these Clubs, Delta will offer four different occupancy levels. Those will be based on how busy the clubs are, with “not busy” indicating a quiet environment and “extremely busy” a more crowded atmosphere.
Customers will be able to track the status of Delta’s club occupancy in the Fly Delta app, with the option to see a map of the club’s current occupancy level. This feature will be expanded systemwide in 2023.
In addition to the real-time occupancy tracking, Delta will be rolling out priority entry lanes for Diamond Medallions, VIPs, and frequent flyers. Currently, these lanes are only for diamond-level travelers, but it will be expanded to all members in the future.
Delta is investing heavily in the design and layout of its new and expanded clubs. Guests will find increased seating, local food and beverage options, and premium designs. There will also be an exclusive Delta One section in each of the new Sky Clubs.
These changes will also increase the cost of annual lounge memberships. Guests will pay an additional $50 fee for access to the Club, and basic economy passengers will no longer earn SkyMiles or credits towards elite status. If you are a Delta basic economy customer and plan on flying internationally, you will no longer be able to use your SkyMiles or Elite Select to gain access to the Delta Sky Club.
Amex Centurion lounges for Delta Reserve cardholders
The Amex Centurion Lounge is the newest addition to the Global Lounge Program. It’s the highest-end of the Amex credit card offerings and offers a plethora of benefits.
To access the lounge, you’ll need an American Express card and a boarding pass from a Delta Air Lines flight. You’ll also have to meet safety guidelines, which may limit what you can do.
There are many lounges around the world. Some are more like premium economy and others are more like first-class lounges. Generally, they are open to the public. These lounges offer complimentary beverages and meals, as well as luxury amenities.
One of the best benefits of the Amex Platinum Card is the access to Centurion Lounges on a number of airlines. They’re located at various airports across the United States.
The Centurion Lounge is a special lounge that can be accessed by a few different types of American Express cards. For instance, the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card will let you in for free, while the Platinum Card offers an exclusive suite of benefits.
Another example of the Amex Centurion Lounge is the one at Seattle, where you can enjoy a range of amenities. This lounge boasts more than 14,000 square feet of space. In fact, it’s one of the largest in the world.
If you have a Platinum card, you’ll be able to bring in two guests for free, while those who have the Delta Reserve card will be charged $50. Alternatively, children under the age of 2 are allowed in for free.
Other perks of the Amex Centurion Lounge include signature cocktails, snacks and Wi-Fi. The lounge offers spacious seating and a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.
Currently, there are a few Amex Centurion Lounges to choose from. However, more are expected to be added to the network. Among the upcoming locations are Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Sydney. By 2023, there will be more than a dozen Centurion Lounges worldwide.
In addition to the free Centurion Lounge, some Amex cards offer access to other lounge networks. For example, the Platinum Card from American Express offers complimentary membership to Priority Pass Select, which gives cardholders access to over 1,300 lounges worldwide.
Cost of individual membership
Delta Sky Club memberships are a great way to have a relaxing time in a lounge-like environment at the airport. Many of these lounges offer free food and beverages and a variety of other perks. You can purchase an individual membership for as little as $545 or 54,500 miles. This includes access to partner lounges as well.
However, the cost of an individual membership has risen in recent months. In fact, it’s set to increase to $495 in 2017, up from the $545 charge it had in 2014. But while Delta has been trying to address the overcrowding issues at its lounges, its recent announcements will only add to the confusion.
The airline has announced new changes to its SkyClub access policy. First, it will restrict access to certain types of passengers. For example, Delta will no longer allow Basic Economy passengers to enter the club. Those who are eligible for the privilege must have an American Express card.
Second, the fee will rise for those who want to use their Platinum Card from American Express. That’s not a huge change, but it will mean more miles for you to use.
Finally, Delta is limiting the number of annual club memberships it sells to those who qualify for the Medallion program. Previously, members could buy a standard, executive or lifetime membership. Those who qualify for the Diamond, Gold or Platinum Medallion status will only be able to purchase an executive membership.
Delta is also lowering the price of purchasing an individual membership with your frequent flyer miles. The standard membership will be $495 in 2017, and the executive membership will cost $1,495 or 149,500 miles.
To see the full list of changes, check out Delta’s website. Earlier this year, the airline tried to make its facilities more user-friendly by improving the food and drink offerings in Sky Clubs. Since then, the number of visits to these clubs has risen.
Until Delta changes its policy in 2023, however, many of these benefits will be moot. The cost of an individual Delta Sky Club membership will be increasing, and the benefits will be limited to those with the right Amex Platinum Card.
SkyTeam lounges
Delta Sky Clubs are a great place to get some work done while you wait for your flight. These are also convenient locations to enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks. Depending on your location, these lounges have different amenities.
Whether you’re flying Delta or another airline, you can access a Sky Club. A membership can be purchased for $545 or $845 per year. The annual fee allows you to visit any Delta Sky Club. In addition to access, you can purchase a full food menu and drink options.
Delta recently updated its SkyClub Access Policies. The changes will take effect in 2023. This new policy will limit entry for certain passengers. However, it will not affect Delta’s elites, oneWorld Emerald, and Star Alliance Gold.
Delta’s Concourse C Sky Club in Atlanta has received mixed reviews. There have been complaints about overcrowding. During busy times, the food may be oversold. Fortunately, the bar remains open for free drinks.
There are other Delta Sky Clubs that are smaller and less popular. For example, the Sky Club in Raleigh-Durham is located on Concourse A, east of the new airport plaza. It features a conference room and offers a full bar.
The new Delta lounge in Boston Logan International’s E Concourse will add almost 21,000 square feet of space to the airline’s lounge portfolio. It will also feature a signature bar.
While Delta’s flagship Sky Club in Atlanta has a businesslike atmosphere, the Sky Deck is a great spot for planespotting. Also, you’ll find a gallery of local artists, a wine wall curated by Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, and a variety of food options.
If you’re looking for a little extra comfort before your flight, you can also check out the Delta Sky Club at LaGuardia. Located before Gate 81, this lounge boasts a large bar area and multiple seating options.
There are several Sky Clubs around the world. Visit Delta’s Sky Club page for a list of all locations. You can also learn about their unique amenities, including the free Wi-Fi.
Delta has more than 50 locations across the globe. Access is free for SkyTeam alliance passengers, and it is included with a Delta business or first class ticket.
